Mobile Passport App vs. Global Entry

Mobile Passport Control (MPC)

Offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Mobile Passport Control allows both U.S. citizens and Canadian visitors to use the Mobile Passport app to expedite their entry process into the United States by allowing travelers to submit their passport and customs declaration information through a free, secure app on their smartphone or other mobile device. The app streamlines the traveler inspection process by reducing inspection time and wait times and enables CBP officers to focus more on the inspection and less on administrative functions. MPC is free to use and does not require pre-approval. Travelers who successfully use an authorized MPC app will no longer have to complete a paper form or use an APC kiosk. Global Entry

Also offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Global Entry is a Trusted Traveler Program that gives you expedited clearance upon arrival in the United States – via specially marked kiosks where you need only get your fingerprints scanned and answer a few questions. As of this writing Global Entry kiosks were available in 75 major airports, allowing you to forgo the long lines customs is known for. Bonus – as a Global Entry participant you automatically get TSA Pre-Check, making not only your entry back into the US quicker, but your screening experience prior to travel faster as well as.
