Long Weekend in Austin, TX

Howdy there, friends!

Is there anything better than a long weekend? We think not. And what better way to spend a long weekend than in one of our favorite cities – Austin, Texas! This city has everything you could possibly want – great food, amazing music, and plenty of outdoor activities. Plus, it’s just a short drive from Houston, making it the perfect getaway.

We’ve put together the perfect Austin itinerary for a long weekend. Just add your favorite pair of cowboy boots and you’re good to go!

Day One:

Start your day off right with a delicious breakfast at Jo’s Coffee. This local favorite is known for their delicious coffee and unique atmosphere. Be sure to try the migas – you won’t regret it!

After breakfast, head over to the Austin Museum of Art. This museum is small but mighty, and has a great collection of both local and international art.

Next, it’s time for some shopping. Head to South Congress Avenue, where you’ll find plenty of unique boutiques and shops.

In the mood for a snack? Pop into Guero’s Taco Bar for a delicious taco (or three). This place is always packed, so be sure to get there early!

For dinner, check out Uchi. This Japanese restaurant is one of the best in the city, and has a beautiful patio for dining al fresco.

End your day with a cocktail at The Roosevelt Room. This trendy bar is perfect for people watching – you’ll feel like a true Austinite in no time.

 

Day Two:

Start your day with a hike through Zilker Metropolitan Park. This park is huge, and has something for everyone. From hiking and biking trails to a botanical garden, you’ll be amazed at all there is to see and do.

After your hike, cool off with a swim at Barton Springs Pool. This natural spring-fed pool is a local favorite, and is the perfect way to beat the Texas heat.

For lunch, swing by Home Slice Pizza. This New York-style pizzeria is always packed, but the pizza is worth the wait. Be sure to try the pepperoni – it’s the best in town!

After lunch, walk off your pizza coma with a stroll down Sixth Street. This historic street is known for its live music and nightlife, and is the perfect place to people watch.

Ready for dinner? Make a reservation at Odd Duck, where you’ll find creative farm-to-table cuisine. This place is always packed, so be sure to plan ahead!

End your night with a show at the Continental Club. This iconic music venue is known for its great live music, and is the perfect place to end your day.

 

Day Three:

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Magnolia Cafe. This local favorite is known for their delicious breakfast tacos, and is the perfect way to start your day.

After breakfast, head over to the LBJ Presidential Library. This library is huge, and has a great collection of both local and national history.

Next, it’s time to explore the University of Texas campus. This campus is huge, and has plenty of great photo ops. Be sure to check out the UT Tower and the Main Building.

After exploring the campus, it’s time for lunch. Head to Torchy’s Tacos, where you’ll find delicious tacos and queso. Be sure to try the Green Chile Queso – you won’t regret it!

After lunch, walk off your tacos with a stroll through the Austin Nature and Science Center. This center has a great collection of both local and national history.

End your day with a sunset boat ride on Lady Bird Lake. This lake is beautiful, and is the perfect way to end your day.
