Howdy! It's #TravelNewsTuesday and today we bring you news of a new Tourism Guest Levy that is being introduced from the beautiful islands of Antigua and Barbuda.
The following is the announcement we received from our valued partners there:
We would like to inform you that the Government of Antigua and Barbuda has recently introduced a Tourism Guest Levy.
Effective October 1st, 2021, there will be a $5.00 USD per person per night for all guests six years of age and older for this levy, which will be collected by credit card upon check in at the hotel. This will only apply to bookings made from August 23, 2021 and onward; bookings made prior to this date will be exempt from this payment.
The tourism levy is a country-wide initiative and all hotels throughout the island will be required to collect this fee starting October 1st.
Described as a setting of “barefoot elegance” - these lovely islands offer you the chance to lay on the beach with a drink and book in hand - they literally have a beach for each day of the year - or immerse yourself in the history and culture so very prevalent in both.
